Gravity Features

Gravity Features

Cluster Imaging

Gravity can package an entire Kubernetes cluster that is pre-loaded with applications into a single tar file called “cluster image”. Organizations can use Gravity cluster imaging technology to create and upgrade clusters that do not have a live connection to container registries and other CI/CD infrastructure.

Flexible Installation Options

Gravity images can be used to create a large number of identical Kubernetes clusters from scratch, but also can be used to inject applications contained in an image into existing Kubernetes clusters.

Runs on Any Infrastructure

Gravity allows deploying applications into any infrastructure: on-premise or in the cloud, virtualized or bare metal, even if a developer does not have access to it.

Cloud and VPC Support

Use Gravity for AWS-native applications and deploy them into your customer’s AWS accounts (or a dedicated VPC). Gravity does not abstract away services delivered by cloud providers, but it allows developers to deploy and run applications in AWS environments they may not have access to.

Image-Based Upgrades

In addition to traditional Kubernetes-native software deployments, Gravity supports simplified image-based upgrades for applications and for Kubernetes. Gravity images are fully de-duplicated and may only contain the delta required to perform an upgrade.

In-Place Upgrades

Every Kubernetes cluster created with Gravity can be upgraded automatically to a latest application version or Kubernetes version. The upgrade procedure is designed for autonomous operations, which are required when operating on a large number of clusters.

Security Best Practices

Clusters created with Gravity allow companies to fly through security audits with ease. Integration with SSO and 2FA, the detailed cluster access audit log, session recording, and synchronization of RBAC policies between Kubernetes and SSH deliver industry-best security practices out of the box.

IoT and Edge Connectivity

Gravity provides Kubernetes and SSH access to clusters located anywhere in the world, no VPN required. Each cluster maintains a secure reverse tunnel to a PAM gateway, so engineers can connect to their edge infrastructure: from restaurants to autonomous vehicles.

Infrastructure Validation

Gravity allows developers to describe the system requirements of an application. Gravity will enforce system requirements during installation to ensure that an application is given sufficient resources to run reliably and execute on their SLA.

Trust Federation

Gravity allows an organization to grant cluster access to managed service providers or contract-based DevOps teams to allow for remote management. Remote access works even for clusters running behind firewalls without any open ports.
